Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
— Proverbs 3:9-10
What does God require of me?
Giving is an active expression of our faith. It recognizes God as our True Provider and affirms our confidence in His ability to supply all we need. It's an act of gratitude and dependence.
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!" — Malachi 3:10 (NLT)
As we listen to God’s voice and seek His will for our lives, His plan for giving will become obvious to each of us. In response, we can eagerly give, knowing that it pleases Him. Through our gifts, we prove faithful in the stewardship of all God has provided for us, while He blesses us beyond what we can imagine.
Giving requires the highest standard of personal integrity and discipline. It is not a casual or occasional thing. In 2 Corinthians 8 and 9, the Bible teaches we are to give willingly, generously, and cheerfully. And our pattern should reflect a regular and systematic plan.
Why do we give to the local church?
As followers of Jesus, we are stewards of God’s resources and He is the owner of all that we have. Throughout scripture, we are reminded of the importance of giving back a portion of what God has so generously provided. His Word tells us that giving is an act of worship that should be done with a spirit of thanksgiving.
We believe that God wants to take care of our needs, and give us enough to share with others too. Money is most valuable when it is put to work helping people (Ephesians 4:28). As individuals and as the church, it is our privilege to give generously to people in need - locally, regionally, nationally, and abroad.
We believe that the Lord has led us at mtn. church to tithe from the tithe. At minimum, 10% of every tithe and offering received goes into our missions, ministry and mercy fund, that directly impacts our local community, and global missions.
The budget at mtn. church is transparent and available for anyone to see. Please contact the church office if you have questions.
God's faithfulness can only be experienced as we exercise our faith. We can read about His faithfulness, we can hear about His faithfulness, we can believe He is faithful, but only as we exercise faith can we experience it.
